Ministerial List: Senators submit petitions against Amaechi's nomination

Senators from Rivers state have moved against the ministerial nomination of a former governor of the state, Rotimi Amaechi.
The senators have submitted a petition, which was written by a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), the Integrity Group based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.

One of the senators, George Sekibo, presented the petition on the floor of the Senate. He told the senate that the petition centered on corruption and criminal breach of trust levelled against Amaechi.
The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, however referred the petition to the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges for consideration.
Amaechi has been facing criticism from the incumbent Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike, with series of allegations of corruption hanging over his head.
He had failed to appear before a panel instituted by Wike to probe his administration in the state.
