DPR Gives Fuel Marketers 3-day Ultimatum

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Eket Office, on Monday mandated petrol marketers in Akwa Ibom to revert to N87 pump price or risked being sanctioned.
Asuquo Antai, DPR operations controller in the state said three million litres of petrol was supplied last week hence the state shouldn’t experience any form of scarcity.
Vanguard reports that DPR warned that any petrol station found wanting will be sealed for three months.
” From Thursday Nov. 5, no retail outlet should sell above government approved price of N87 per litre.” he warned.
”Any filling station that sells above the price will be shut for three months and defaulters will have to pay fine before being reopened for business.”
“Any retail outlet that cannot sell for N87 per litre should close because we are going to monitor them strictly to ensure compliance,” Antai said.
Antai alleged that some major  marketers including operators of NNPC mega stations diverted the product allocated to them to make more gains
According to him, some depot managers are collaborating with some marketers to shortchange Nigerians.
He however warned them to desist from the act and assured that Calabar depot has reasonable quantity of petrol to meet the requirement of the state.
The state, in the past two weeks has been experiencing fuel scarcity. Petrol was being sold between N100 and N120 per litre.
