Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has been advised to concentrate more on delivering his campaign promises as the people of the state are now tired of his excuses for non-performance.
This counsel was made by the a former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Femi Bamisile on Monday, November 2, at a meeting with leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress in Emure local government area.
Bamisile noted that the governor could no longer hide under the veil of poor financial situation of the state which he was fully aware of prior to assumption of office as governor.
The ex-Speaker went further to advice that Fayose should organize an economic summit which will afford him the opportunity to get fresh idea saying “he (Fayose) appears to be bereft of ideas on how to take rescue the state from the woods.”
Commenting on the new tax regime in the state, Bamisile said that the tax is destroying the economic life of the people at the grassroots as many small businesses will collapse under the weight of the tax increment.
Bamisile concluded by s
“Ekiti people are not interested in excuses for your failures. They are only interested in your capacity to develop the state using your intellectual property, most especially in the areas of economic prosperity and job creation.”
Meanwhile, Fayose had described the statement made by the presidency warning him to stop making derogatory remarks on the running of the economy by the federal government as a demonstration of military dictatorship mentality.
The governor stated that he was displeased that the presidency will be warning a Nigerian, who is heading one of the country’s federating units on what to say and what not to say.aying: “Every government is liable to inherit both the liabilities and assets of its predecessors and also leave same for her successor, even the Ayodele Fayose led government is already leaving a debt profile of N58b (and still counting) with the Central Bank Bailout loan, despite the fact that he is yet to pay the full allowances of past political appointees captured in the bail out.”
